In our society, beauty seems to be a yardstick for acceptance, especially for women. Studies have shown that the exterior package does count, as many a plastic surgeon will attest. Is it fair? Of course not. One of my favorite movies is "Shallow Hal." I knew lots of young men that only cared about the glossy exterior, not the heart and soul beneath the surface of many a good woman. In a perfect world we would all be judged by our intelligence and compassion for others. In the end, the only thing that you can change is yourself. Good character and regards for others are what count. Lessons like this are learned in this life or will be repeated in the next.
